Peter Sallis was born in Twickenham, Middlesex, educated in Southgate and served in the RAF during WW2.
He will be remembered for his wonderful talent as an actor, in particular as Clegg in Last of the Summer Wine (the only cast member to appear in all 295 episodes) and as the voice of Wallace, the eccentric inventor in Nick Park’s Wallace & Gromit animations.
Peter’s two remarkable books of memoirs, Fading into the Limelight and Summer Wine and Other Stories, were highly successful and are being published again.
